Mine’s Khalil by Yasmina Khadra. 📚
About the Book:
Khalil, a young man from Morroco whose family has settled in Belgium, is set to blow himself up near France’s national stadium, in the outskirts of Paris, along with his best friend. Khalil reaches for the detonator of his explosive vest in a packed suburban train. There is a twist: he survives, and he wasn’t meant to.
The book is an extremely troubling, dark, and reflective story about a torn man headed towards a path of no return. Khadra explores what motivates an individual to carry out acts of terrorism and also how the most vulnerable are recruited by extremists.
4.3/5, if I have to rate it. Short, page-turner, no fluff or filler, no unnecessary over-descriptions. Just a great book that I’ll recommend.
I want to hear from you amazing readers cos I kinda need new great book recommendations but I’m too shy to ask directly ☺️🤭😂
