A book similar to Chuck Klosterman’s The Nineties, but about other decades or specific cultural zeitgeists
The loved the way _The Nineties_ was laid out thematically focusing on politics in one chapter and popular music in another. I’m looking for something similar for other decades that takes a look at the culture of the time.
Jon Savage, *1966: The Year The Decade Exploded.* Covers an enormous amount of ground, Warhol/Velvet Underground, Scandinavian Socialists, queer culture, pop, soul, garage, mod and much more. A really interesting read. There’s a 2CD compilation that goes with it that’s superb.

I finished The Fifties by David Halberstam a few weeks ago. Elvis, Peyton Place, Marilyn, James Dean, the Beats, it hits a lot of notes.
