I recently placed waiting list at ,y library for the Thrawn trilogy. Not sure if that’s the same as heir to the empire. I have heard good things about this trilogy
The only other book I’ve read is Ahsoka, audiobook actually. It’s was ok. Not bad but nothing special either. The narrator was good though, but the music and soundeffects were bit distracting but if you like star wars style of music then you’ll like it

First of all, finish the Thrawn Trilogy! “Dark Force Rising” and “The Last Command” are next.To me, it will always be the real Sequel Trilogy.
I really enjoyed the “Tales of the Bounty Hunters” and the other short story collections.
The X-Wing series by Michael Stackpole was super fun. Just an awesome series that I remember ripping through.
To be fair, I was reading most of these in the late 90s and early 00s. The original EU was my jam, and I’m not super familiar with the latest books. When Disney bought them, they basically said “Nah, these books are NOT canon anymore,” then they released the new sequels and their own series of books.
