Hi ~ I am reading my first romance book series ever (the infamous acotar) as recommended by a friend for the character of Rhysand and I have really enjoyed it. I think there is love and hate for this series but I am having a good time eating up these books on planes. So despite a little criticism below, I like these books.
Disclaimer: I am on the THIRD book right now so please keep that in mind. I am NOT finished the series.
I am posting here because I want to read more books about characters like Rhysand BUT I don’t want everything to be spelled-out for me. In this series, it has begun to feel like the author is compelled to provide justifications for Rhysand’s every move, in order to maintain that he is the perfect man— well I am capable of reading between the lines and his perfection feels unbalanced almost, and it is likely due to the over-explanation.
IDK.. am I alone? The first book he had intrigue and some of the second too.. and then it became way too contrived for my taste. I like the concept of him… but have some critique with the execution.
Please suggest books with similar characters to Rhysand from the first book to the half of the second book. That was more my vibe. It does not have to be fantasy. Would love to hear your thoughts too. Thank you guys in advance!
