Hi all, just wanted to see what you guys think is the best “travel” novel that you always carry around when going to different places through transport or just to have handy on you in case you need to pass the time. I’m going to be travelling a bit soon and most of my collection are books that are 500+ pages, which is fairly hefty to carry around. What are your guys’ go to for a book that is pretty easily carried on you and doesn’t require a lot to get sucked into the world?

What genre are you looking for? Personally, i always bring an André Aciman book with me when i’m traveling because in my country all of them are published in a fairly lightweight paperback format
[The Grace Year, Kim Liggett](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43263520)
I read this book annually because the first time I read it I went into an odd depression, knowing nothing would ever live up to it. Tossing between wishing I’d never read it to wishing for a sequel, a movie just something.
Might not be your genre or maybe you hate it but I love it
Stephen King is always up for a trip.
The Shining, The Stand (longer jaunts)
Carrie, or Different Seasons (for a weekend at most)
Too lowbrow? Grab a le Carre
Somewhere in the middle? Christie or Elmore Leonard (just mind that you haven’t watched what you’re about to read with either of these)
And randomly I’m really enjoying Hollywood Station by Joseph Wambaugh right now.
The kindle is my travel buddy. But before kindle I’d just buy something cheap at the place I’m leaving from and leave it behind somewhere when I was done. Then someone gets a free book.
