I have to do a project/report for english class over the book Great Expectations. One part of the project is summarizing the antagonist and its role in the story, as well as coming up with a symbol that represents it. I am having a hard time choosing which antagonist is the most important/relevant to the plot, seeing as there are several. The people/things I think it could be are:
-Pip himself and his Expectations for his life
-Estella
-Miss Havisham (possibly those two combined?)
-Magwitch
-Compeyson
I need to narrow it down to one of these that affects the story the most, so if anyone familiar with the book could help me out, I would appreciate it so much! I am curious to see everyone’s take on this.
