So I will be listening (On Hoopla) to The Wheel of Time books. I don’t know much of anything about the books all I know is that people say it has really good world building, and I love that!
Is there anything I need to know before reading the books? Anything/anybody I need to prepare myself for?
I’ve never asked this question before but then again I’ve never read a 14 book series so there is a first time for everything 😂

I think there are 2 general things to be aware of.
The first book is written almost as an homage to Lord of the Rings and it shows, the series drastically changes style and direction almost immediately in the second book.
Secondly, the series is incredibly polarizing. It has a lot of legitimate complaints leveled at it, a lot of frustrating characters and can be overly wordy at times, but is also considered by many to be one of the greatest works of fiction. Very few people who get through the first 2-3 books have a lukewarm reaction, it’s either fantastic or terrible.
Even those who like the series will say a good chuck of the middle books are extremely slow paced.
If you aren’t enjoying the series by book 3 my suggestion is to drop it.
