I am in a reading funk. Maybe you can help with that.
I really like mysteries, but I’m not into all the gory details. Likewise, I want something with some comedy to break the tension.
I am currently rewatching Castle, and I want something like that.
I prefer PI and consultants to cops/detectives.
This spring anything to mind?

Anthony Horowitz is right up your alley! Also the Kinsey Millhone series (A is for Alibi).
Kellye Garrett?
They actually made all the Richard Castle books irl. I believe it’s a series of 6.
The Thursday Murder Club (Richard Osman). There are two cop characters, but the emphasis is definitely on four retirees (a nurse, a union organizer, a psychiatrist, and a former MI5 operative, I think) who investigate a crime together.
I’m reading the Cat Who mysteries by Lillian Jackson Braun for that very reason. Name is cheesy, but the books are a delightful, comical read with just enough mystery and intrigue.
Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
The Finley Donavan series is good. Also The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz.
