I got this book at a library book sales many moons ago and I’m diving in to it now for spooky season. It was between this book or Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and the short stories won out!

What’s your favorite Edgar Allen Poe story?

I’ve only read the Tell-Tale Heart before, for school, so I’m curious to see what the other stories are like. I love horror movies but haven’t gotten into a whole lot of horror literature, though I do love psychological thrillers.

The Masque of the Red Death and The Fall of the House of Usher are much anthologised so I guess they have been found by many people to be especially striking.

    2. I’ve always enjoyed The Black Cat-one of my black cats is named Pluto after the cat in the story, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar. That last one kinda messed me up the first time I read it, but it’s worth the read

    3. The Cask of Amontillado was one that always stuck with me.

I also really love The Murders in the Rue Morgue.

Imo it’s really hard to go wrong with most of Poe’s short stories!

    4. For a less famous pick, the imagery of The Pit and the Pendulum really captured me when I was a kid. >!I’ve never watched the SAW movies, but that might be close to the allure.!<
