Hi, I’m currently in a phase where classic ‘whodunit mystery’ books bore me immensely.
I’m overdosing on this classic formula.
I’m looking for a book that has managed to innovate in this genre with a high-concept, mysteries that drive you crazy and curious all along, a real page-turner…
I really enjoy being as lost as the character who wonders what’s happening with the mysteries.
I know I’m asking for a lot, but if you have any gems that somewhat fit what I’m asking for, don’t hesitate.
Thanks in advance.

You could try *The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida* by Shehan Karunatilaka. The main character is dead and is trying to remember who killed him. You will also learn about Sri Lankan history and culture. It won a Booker Prize.
I didn’t personally love the ending but The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton might be good for you. Depending on publication country, there might not be a “1/2” in the title, but it’s the same book.
Not sure if you will like it, but I adore dr. siri paiboun mysteries by Colin Cotterell.

The City and the City, by China Mieville. A murder mystery within a very weird concept that the author fully commits to and achieves, in my opinion.
