Hi r/suggestmeabook,
Last year I requested suggestions for books to get my husband for his birthday, and you all gave the BEST recommendations! Some of his favorites over the past year have been: “Trick Mirror” by Jia Tolentino, “Candy Freak” by Steve Almond, “Windy City” by Scott Simon, “Our Country Friends” by Gary Shteyngart, and “Kitchens of the Great Midwest,” “The Lager Queen of Minnesota,” and “Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club,” all by J. Ryan Stradal.
Based on the books listed above, what others would you recommend?
Thanks in advance!!

I haven’t read it yet, but it sounds like Marrying the Ketchups by Jennifer Close could be a good one!
Jitterbug Perfume
Prince of Tides
The Brothers K (by David James Duncan, not Dostoyevsky)
(And Kitchens of the Great Midwest is one of my all time faves, glad to see it listed :))
