I did search the group before posting this but didn’t find my flavor of thrills.

My favorite author currently is Julia Heaberlin.

The books that have really stuck with me are:
Black Eyed Susan’s by the aforementioned author and ‘Anonymous Girl’ by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.
(Im looking for something more unsettling than these)

‘The 1%’ by E.Z. Morgan – this one was self published by my favorite writer on the r/nosleep subreddit some years ago. That being said, it’s the most demented book I have read.

I enjoy reading nosleep most of the time because many of the writers are exactly what I’m looking for, but once I look into novels of the same category, It gets weird. My experience with horror is there is always some grotesque shock factor that is sexual in nature.

I enjoy books with twists and turns that keep you guessing and catch you off guard. Ones that leave you with a residue of unease and paranoia.

It’s hard for me to find books like that because certain books are just really sad.
“Last house on needless street” was recommended and I found that book to be just deeply sad. It’s such a profound book and I think it’s important for it to be read a certain way. That one I feel is more telling of the ways that people treat those with mental illnesses. It also explains how illnesses can be acquired through trauma.
“A Head Full of Ghosts” was another recommendation that I didn’t find to be a thriller. It was just deeply sad.

I wanted to share my experience with psych thrillers and horrors to hopefully make it easier to recommend some good reads.
I do enjoy dystopian and sci-if. Novels, manga, graphic novels. Pretty much any flavor of psychological thriller. Sans afforementioned tropes.
    Thank you in advance! 🙂
