I saw the film half a dozen times (it’s a personal favourite of mine) and was eager to see comparisons and difference. Notably the pacing of the novel where several scenes happen before Graham even meets Dr Lecter, whilst in the film he is seen much earlier in the story.
I liked the chapters where we see Dolarhyde’s interactions with coworkers and it gives more depth to the character in my opinion.
Overall I love the film as it is but I prefer the novel’s pacing (I can only visualise Hopkins and Feinnes as Dolarhyde).
Overall an excellent novel, Graham pulled me in so easily, 8/10
