On the tail end of watching “one day” and god I love this type of story.. I don’t know the ending but I have a feeling it could be terrible in a emotional wrecking way. Lol. Gives me Normal People, convo w friends and The Hearts Invisible furies vibes. Anyone got another suggestion for a book similar? Thank you!!!!

Maybe look at Young Mungo. It’s the most tragic story about forbidden love, people being self absorbed, struggling with poverty, religion, addiction, broken dreams, and just finding their way in the world.
Have you read Bee Sting. Not a love story per se, but about people trying to find dignity while losing everything, the stories we tell ourselves and others, and the price of secrets.
It starts pretty light, but quickly changes tone. I actually gasped at the ending. It has stuck with me line no other book.
Hope you give them a try.
