This is something I do from time to time, and not only for books. After reading one, or watching a movie, sometimes I feel I don’t get to grasp the message of the story to the fullest, no matter how much I think about it. One book example was Moby Dick, while for movies was Blade Runner. I’ve tried to think about the message these works were trying to tell, but I just couldn’t comprehend it so I’ve looked for explanations online.
I’m ussualy the one who always says “the message of a movie or a book is the one you perceive”, but sometimes getting a completely different message from the one the author was trying to achieve makes me feel stupid so I’ve started developing an “addiction” to go looking for explanations from others. Am I doing the wrong thing? Should it be better for my experience to maybe re-read the book instead of looking online?
