I’m looking for a new book series. As the title says I’m a big fan of action, history and puzzles. I just finished the Matthew Reilly books and loved the alternative history mixed with modern military stuff. Characters may be cheesy but that doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I also enjoyed the non-stop action if Matthew Reilly, it may not be the most descriptive writing but I’m okay with skipping detailed explanations to get straight into the action.
The historical aspect itself doesn’t need to be factual or the actual setting, the Jack West series is modern based with an Indiana Jones meets Da Vinci code puzzles (although not as complex) sort of spin to it and it was everything I love.
Basically if it has da Vinci code like puzzles, history in almost any fashion and some action it’ll be great.
Also bonus points if you can tell me if the Wilbur Smith Ancient Egypt series ticks the boxes, I just impulse bought the first and am about to crack into it, but preparing for after.
