I have noticed that these characters tend to translate better in visual media than on black and white pages. For those who know, I’m thinking of characters such as Gojo, Vanitas, Hanako-kun. They are so loveable but are definitely a bit rough around the edges. Whether that means being actually cruel in the moment to teach a lesson or using teasing humor as a protective mechanism d/t childhood trauma. I would love some novels that have examples of these characters done well so I can better learn when I’m practicing writing them.
I tried the Zodiac Academy but those boys were just straight up sociopaths lol
