To start, I am quite obsessed with sharks, so any opportunity I get to read a fictional book that involves sharks in any way, I am all for it. When I found out about Habeck’s book, Shark Heart, I was so excited for it to come out. I waited until my library finally got it and read it. Boy, was I disappointed.
I didn’t expect it to be a work of art. After all, it is about a man slowly turning into a shark. But what got to me the most was the style of writing. I thought it was awful and couldn’t finish it after getting halfway through. I returned it to my library. Maybe I just didn’t get the artistic choices the author made with writing this book, but it never hooked me (heh).
Has anybody else read this book? What are your thoughts on it? Should I finish it someday? What I thought was going to be how the book ended was happening in the middle of the book so I have no idea where it is going to take the plot…

I loved the title and was intrigued by the idea, but I DNF. I did not love the writing style at all, I felt like the transformation wasn’t particularly well thought out, and the characters didn’t seem real to me. Other people loved it though, and you know it’s always tricky to criticize something you didn’t finish.
