Hello! I’m looking to get back into reading and am seeking recommendations for novels that preferably have some element of romance. It can be in any setting — modern day, historical, sci-fi etc. I love reading stories where I find myself immersed by their use of language and descriptions to describe people / scenery.
One example from one of my favorite books, Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff:
“In the car, Lancelot marveled at Mathilde: what a smooth face she had, likable, like a vanilla ice cream cone. If only the left side of his body hadn’t suddenly become buried in concrete, he would leap over the emergency brake and treat her the way a cow treats a block of salt.”
Not the most quotable quote by any means of course but it was from reading a lot of interesting writing like this that got me in love with the book!
