I recently finished reading Dune Messiah and caught myself comparing it to A Feast for Crows, from A Song of Ice and Fire: both are stories focused on narrating how their respective worlds were changed by a major event that happened in the previous book. AFFC mostly explores how of the War of Five Kings affected Wesreros, and Messiah depicts how Paul’s jihad affected the whole universe. One could say they are ment to work as transitions to the next big event.
Not only that, upon release both of them received generally negative criticism, and sometimes still do to this day lol. In my personal experience they did feel veeeery slow and dragged out to read, lthough I admit having a much worse time with AFFC- which I could barely finish, while I loved Dune Messiah after I was done with it.
Can you think of other series that goes through this? What are your thoughts?
