Hello! I love reading but I have a problem with series. They’re never finished! So I’d love for people to suggest standalone books of almost any genre, preferably with a happy ending! (Mainly the main character surviving). My favorite genre at the moment is fantasy YA but I’m also open to mystery/thrillers, sci-fi, horror, and romance!

“Guards! Guards!” by Terry Pratchet. Arguably the funniest and most fun book you will ever read. It’s not that long, cozy, and also easy to read.

And when I say funny I mean laugh out loud, maybe with tears, funny. 😂

I’m always recommending *The English Wife* and *The Other Daughter*, both by Lauren Willig. They are carefully but engagingly well written, with developed characters, emotional drama, and definitely a happy ending.

for ya fantasy, the girl who fell beneath the sea is a really good standalone with a happy ending

    4. Most of Joe R. Lansdale’s books (besides the Happy & Leonard mysteries) are stand-alones. Unique author, writes across the fiction spectrum from very weird scifi/horror to steampunk westerns to very sweet YA. Try “Bleeding Shadows” (short fic) at the one end, “The Donut Legion” at the other (monograph).
