So, to cut a long story short, after months and months of indecisiveness after first being presented with the idea of going on anti-depressants, I’ve decided to take the anti-depressants. It’s a decision that I’ve discussed and researched in detail, I understand the effects and potential risks. One of the biggest risks being that it may ‘get worse before it gets better’ and I want to prepare for this period whatever it may bring.

So, reading! Reading has really been my anchor for a long long long time. It really does serve as a great escape for me, and I know I’m going to depend on it should I get ‘worse’.

I emphasis fiction books because I’m not looking for self-help books. I’ve read enough books on my condition to understand how it works, it’s really not what I’m after. But fiction books, especially ones with fantastical settings, compelling characters. I’m pretty open to a lot of stuff, but fantasy is usually what I point out as a favourite.

What fantasy fiction books have helped you get through tough times? What would you give to someone to serve as a form of escapism or distraction? Many thanks 🙂

(Also, because I see it recommended a lot, yes I have already read and deeply enjoyed a lot of the Discworld books – I’d love to branch out and explore some others)
