They say to read in the genre you’re writing in and to be fair I haven’t been reading the fiction side of my writing as much. I’m not really sure the exact genre I am looking for. My story is a Red Dawn-esque type story. So kinda alternate history but it’s focused on a group of friends who end up fighting in the war and their experience. So it’s being written as more of a war novel.
I have read loads of Memoirs of actual soldiers from many different sides of many different wars throughout history. And that is where I am pulling in semirealistic scenes and events. But if anyone would kindly direct me to a similar style fiction story as I am writing that would be amazing.
I will add I have read the Trent Reedy series of Divided We Fall and the 2nd and 3rd book of that series.
