My mum loves these and I’d like to get her a good one for mother’s day. I know absolutely none, so any recommendations at all are very much appreciated!
Nothing too “scary”, such as murder mysteries etc. Her words not mine, lol.
If she’s open to other eras, Katherine by Anya Seton is an incredible book. It takes place in the 14th century though.

That’s the problem – most of the Tudor historicals I know are murder mysteries!
You could try the classic writer, Jean Plaidy – it’s Philippa Gregory country but perhaps even less violent/overt; she wrote about all the Tudors and I think about the Medicis as well.
A really lovely one set in Tudor times is Towers In The Mist by Elizabeth Goudge, which has Christian themes in [but is not ‘preachy’.]

The Other Boleyn Girl
The Virgin’s Lover
The Queen’s Fool
They’re all by Philippa Gregory.
