I have recently just finished the Night Caller and as it was my first mystery thriller, I found it incredible. However, I haven’t found anything on people’s opinions about the book. I get that no one can read every book so I’d like to queue up a discussion about it. What are all of your opinions and thoughts on the book, the characters the plot?

Personally, I thought it was terrific especially for my first mystery, full of thrills and suspense, especially at the climax. The main character, a detective named Coop short for Cooper is a very withdrawn pessimistic guy but at the same time, endeared to him, as a character, he’s decently written but my favourite out of the rest, only because everyone else is bland, shallow, honestly annoying with barely any room to grow. Coops is a recent cancer survivor and a retired New York detective so a lot of his pessimistic attitude is well-received to me.

The plot follows Coop investigating the murder of his daughter, leading him to meet Deni Green a failing author banking on turning the evidence around his daughter and other similar victims into a novel. After another murder, the pair together meet Cara Callahan the victim’s sister. The pair continue their investigation, meeting with cops all over the country while Cara gets herself into the sights of the Night Caller. I can’t get into much else without spoilers so I’ll stop there.

I loved the actual plot, the mystery around the Night Caller and the relationships around the characters, from the genuine hatred to the rather hilarious respect built between one-off characters. With the serious and often gruesome nature of the books, it has very light-hearted comedic scenes that add a little brevity to the story. My only complaint was the rather light information on the Caller that shows up way too late in the story, but I’ll leave it there.

The book is awesome and I wish there was more info and opinions on it.
