No joke I bought the first three Queen’s Thief books because the covers were so nice. Still haven’t read them. I absolutely do not have the time to get into Guy Gavriel Kay right now but his covers tempt me. If I keep buying books I never have the time or energy to read I might as well be honest and make an aesthetic choice out of it lol.

Tons of times. Occasionally I’m burned hard by them (Shades of Magic) and other times it was an amazing decision (Small Spaces quartet).
Also you definitely should jump into the Guy Gavriel Kay ocean. It’s a great place to swim.
Not *just*, but I’ve definitely been drawn to a beautiful cover and googled it in the store and a couple of times it resulted in a buy. One that comes to mind is *Winter stories* by Ingvild Rishøi (swedish edition, don’t know what the English looks like). One of the best modern books I’ve read in years.
