I don’t know if it’s just myself, but I often find that when I’m learning something, reading is just complimentary to my understanding of something and if I do not learn by watching videos or looking at diagrams or listening to lectures, then I will not understand what I’m reading.

For example, I was reading about wristwatch function and it was so confusing with the terms and mechanical concepts especially orienting where the parts are, the descriptions of how a part moves, concepts of force, and just lacking in understanding in how mechanical movement works. So I watched a couple of YouTube videos instead and it helped. You know that saying “a picture is worth a thousand words.”

Reading just feels such a cumbersome task and if I don’t ‘prime’ myself for reading, then I just don’t understand what I’m reading.

Maybe I’m just an idiot, but is anyone else like this? Good readers, what do you do? It’s like a catch-22: in order to understand you need to read, but in order to read you need to understand.
