Love the Jeeves and Wooster series! Looking for books that tackle that life/period but without the Wodehouse-esque comedy.
Random example that comes to mind from my own reading is, the count in a Gentleman in Moscow.
Manners is a sub genre I’m aware of but looking for good recs 🙂
Thank you!

E M Forster is a great novelist of that period. A Room With A View is a classic, so insightful about people and their possibilities and foibles.
Try the Forsyte Saga by John Galsworthy. The first novel is The Man of Property.
Evelyn Waugh.
Somerset Maugham – Cakes and Ale
Nancy Mitford – The Pursuit of Love
Jessica Mitford – Hons and Rebels
Elizabeth Bowen – The Death of the Heart
Parades End – Ford Maddox Ford
Goodbye to all That – Robert Graves
