(TW for depression) I just finished reading a few days ago and have been a complete mess since. I know it’s fiction, unrealistic, etc, but I think it has triggered me BADLY. Wondering if anyone else has felt like this after reading? (I LOVED the book and I loved the characters but it has changed my outlook on the future, which is my biggest problem).

What did you do after reading if you were affected by it? How did you remind yourself that it was just a book that was written because there aren’t enough books with miserable endings and characters that can’t ever be happy and that that isn’t the case in real life? I understand now that I should not have read it and have contacted a therapist for professional help, but in the meantime, what to do?

    1. I’ve had the same experience three times:

      -With “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley
-After reading Turin’s story in the Silmarillion
-“The colour out of space” by Lovecraft

I know the feeling, and I couldn’t cope with it. I just moved on and let myself forget it.
