Suggest me a fiction book that explores the complexities of being an expat (in the US) torn between two worlds
The title pretty much says it all. Missing family overseas, while still bound to the US (possibly another country or even fantasy world) because of relationships, responsibilities, freedom, etc.
Americanah? Focuses on a young Nigerian woman who moves to the US for college. Lots about culture shock and trying to figure out identity while transitioning between very different cultures.

The Satanic Verses, The Ground Beneath Her feet, Shalimar the Clown, all by Salman Rushdie
