Can someone who loved this book please respond and defend their stance as to why they love it so much? I finished reading it yesterday and I can honestly say I was extremely underwhelmed by it. It was a decent read, but it drags so much between the climatic moments with irrelevant and boring dialogue. The book, in its totality, was boring for the majority of the time with a few moments where it seemed the author actually wanted to show her writing prowess which gave me just enough motivation to turn the page, only to be plunged into boredom again. I don’t want to sound too harsh because I do think the book was well written. I just cannot see why it is so highly rated.

This book is very popular on BookTok and I think people like it just for the “vibes” i.e., spooky cozy dark academia. Something to cuddle up to with a steaming mug of tea on a chilly autumn day
