I don’t know if this is the right subreddit but I wanted to know how do people decide when to buy a physical book versus an ebook?

Some Background: I’ve just started reading more outside of textbooks for my classes but have reached a hurdle. I am beginning to hate reading on my phone even though I do like the convenience sometimes. For example, like when I first wake up, being able to grab my phone and read under the covers while I procrastinate getting up is great. But other than that it’s starting to irk me cause it feels icky that i’m constantly on my phone.

I could get an ipad or an e reader but I don’t want to splurge and not actually use it. However I would really appreciate a bigger screen. But not every book is available as an ebook and some books are just not meant to be read that way. So does it make more sense to just keep using my phone and buy/borrow physical books when needed? One pro is that I can annotate physical books which is something i’d like to do for more academic books. On the other hand, it seems like it’s much harder for me to get around to reading physical books.

Does anyone have any advice or opinions?
