I absolutely love a good mystery series, and I usually listen to them on Audible since I usually multi task while listening.

Some of the ones I’ve read and enjoyed have been:

Louise Penny – Gamache series (favorite)

Deborah Crombie – Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James series

    Martin Walker – Bruno series

Ausma Zehanat Khan – Esa Khattak and Rachel Getty series

Tana French – Dublin Murder Squad series

I’ve tried to enjoy John Connolly’s Charlie Parker series, but it was just too dark.

I like reliable characters with good story arcs throughout the books.

Any recommendation on what to get into next?

Agree with previous posted about Christie series, and also Anna Pigeon (probably my all time fave.) Here are other ideas of series (so many good ones out there!)

Flavia de Luce by Alan Bradley

Mary Russell by Laurie R King

      Maisie Dobbs Jaqueline Winspear

No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith

Cormoran Strike by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling)

      Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich

      Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz

      Kate Burkholder by Linda Castillo

Lincoln Lawyer/Bosch/Ballard all by Michael Connelly

Eve Ronin/Monk/Diagnosis Murder all by Lee Goldberg

      Alex Delaware by Jonathan Kellerman

Peter Decker/Rena Lazarus by Faye Kellerman

      Ruth Galloway by Elly Griffiths

      Kay Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwall

Joanna Bradey/Ali Reynolds/JP Beaumont by JA Jance

      Kinsey Milhone by Sue Grafton

      Temperance Brennan by Kathy Reichs

Rizzoli & Isles by Tess Gerritsen

Women’s Murder Club by James Patterson

Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

      Gabriel Allon by Daniel Silva

      Myron Bolitar by Harlan Coben

      Stone Barrington by Stuart Woods

      Gabriel Allon by Daniel Silva

Leephorn, Chee, and Manuelita by Anne Hillerman (or just Leephorn and Chee by Tony Hillerman)

      Georgiana Rannock by Rhys Bowen

      Agatha Raisin by M.C. Beaton

      Inspector Lynley by Elizabeth George

Edit: just want to say, these are not overly cozy or overly dark, but live on a spectrum in between, which seems like what you are after.

    3. Hi, great responses already, I would suggest Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams.

    4. I listened to Peter Grainger’s D.S. Smith/Kings Lake series, a British police procedural, one after the other. The first book in the series is An Accidental Death. Gildart Jackson is an excellent narrator and I loved the mysteries.
