I used to LOVE fanatasy couple of years back but then I got into thrillers and since then I have barely read anything from other genre.
I have read the popular ones- Harry Potter (best series ever!), Hunger games, Divergent series.

Please recommend me something that would be easy to get into preferably a standalone book

How about Black Water Sister by Zen Cho? It’s a standalone fantasy book about a young woman who is possessed by the ghost of her estranged grand mother and starts to uncover a series of increasingly dangerous family secrets. Fantasy, but with a heavy thriller aspect!

    2. Not standalone – the Percy Jackson series, The Magicians

Stardust by Neil Gaiman ( he also has a number of standalone worth checking out)

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune

    3. “The Priory of the Orange Tree” by Samantha Shannon. I haven’t read it yet, but only heard good things about it. There is book 0, “A day of Fallen Night”, but I think you can read the book 1 without reading the book 0. A second book is coming, I think, but hasn’t been published yet. You have to know, however, that this one is extremely long haha

“Six of Crows” by Leigh Bardugo. Haven’t read it yet, but fantasy readers seem to all agree on this one (and the second/last tome) being excellent, and there are only two books. Maybe I would recommend this more than “The Priory of the Orange Tree”, since both of the books are out and it might be easier to get into 🙂

Good luck on your quest, I hope you’ll find a good fantasy book that will make you fall in love with the genre again ! 🙂

    4. Brandon Sanderson standalones are awesome but you’d also probably like the Daevabad books (3) starting with city of brass
