“A little life”. It made me profoundly sad for a fictional character and mired me in sadness for days. It’s gut wrenching.

The Fifth Season by N.K.Jemisin.
It’s about a future world and people called orogenes who have the power to create earthquakes. They’re an oppressed group because their power to move matter is misunderstood and they’re horribly abused.
It’s a heart wrenching story about a powerful orogene mother who’s trying to reunite with her child. It’s one of the best fantasy books I’ve ever read and one of the saddest.
