Hello!
I am looking for suggestions for what I should read next. What follows is an evolution of my favorite books and authors that have developed my interest in reading.
* A couple of years ago I began with Hunter Thompson, where I ran through many of his great works: Fear and Loathing (in las vegas and on the campaign trail), The Kentucky Derby, the rum diary, the great shark hunt, hells angels, etc.
* I followed a trend of loose history through stories of the beatnik generation and psychedelics through works by Tom Wolfe (Electric Kool Aid Acid Test) and Jack Kerouac (On the Road). At this time, I also read and enjoyed Revolutionary Suicide by Huey Newton
* I then got heavily into Iceberg Slim (Pimp, Trick Baby, Mama black widow, long white con) and Donald Goines (Dopefiend, Whoreson, Crime Partners, Kenyatta’s tetrology). I really like this genre as it helps me cope with past trauma and the ugliness of addiction (I struggle myself I’m not tryna fire shots).
* Recently I got introduced into science fiction through Vonnegut (SHV, Sirens of Titan) and Philip Dick (Scanner Darkly, Do Androids Dream…, Valis). And most recently I read Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica and the Three Body Problem Trilogy by Cixin Liu and **really** enjoyed both!
Do y’all have any recommendations for what I should read next?
