Looking for some great fiction books with great character development. The type of books where you feel like you truly KNOW the characters and think about them even after the book is done

Lois McMaster Bujold’s books are like this. Her most recent series is Penric and Desdemona, mostly fantasy novellas. They should be read in Bujold’s recommended reading order, but each novella is a standalone story. The characters age and develop throughout the series, and I feel like I know them Bujold released the most recent novella last month. Start with Penric’s Demon.

Her sci fi space opera series the Vorkosigan Saga is similar in that you feel like you know the characters. I recommend starting with Shards of Honor.

    3. For me this sums up still life by Sarah Winman . You even find yourself emotionally attached to the parrot 😂.
