Hello Everyone!
I’m creating a book advent calendar for my partner and I would love some input! I have about eight books left to come up with and I’m totally lost. He loves philosophy and moral speculations, has a propensity for more conservative ideologies (he really likes Edmund Burke), high-brow fantasy, Russian and British literature, and mythology (Epics mostly like Paradise Lost or the Odyssey).
Here is the list I have of books I think he’ll like:
A Theory of Justice by John Rawls
Heroes and Kings by Charles Williams
Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison by Michel Foucault
Reflections on the Revolution in France by Edmund Burke
Reason and Beauty in the Poetic Mind by Charles Williams
King Arthur and His Knights: Selected Tales by Thomas Malory
An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals: A Critical Edition David Hume
The Constitution of Liberty by Friedrich A. Hayek
On War by Carl von Clausewitz
Day of the Oprichnik by Vladimir Sorokin
The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Leo Tolstoy
Neuromancer by William Gibson
Complete Writings on America by Edmund Burke
A Vindication of Natural Society by Edmund Burke
Modern Fantasy: Five Studies by Colin Manlove
Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov
The Faerie Queen by Edmund Spenser
Thanks to anyone who makes a suggestion! 🙂
