I’ve observed that many people on this sub don’t buy books; they borrow them, listen to audiobooks, get them issued from libraries, read via electronic means. So this is just a little appreciation for a little lovely thing: book buying(physical books).
So many adventures lined up on the shelves; nothing less than a travel memory. Lines underlined, pages marked, to be revisited. A book is a sanctuary that never shuts itself to us. Each revisit in the same sanctuary is an exploration anew; a reborn self meeting the old self. Stories of so many characters are in turn stories of us. Fantasy or philosophy– we are found. That tangible proof of the miracle of consciousness. Ever-present; Effervescent.
Ps: I do NOT condemn not buying books AT ALL. Reading in any medium is a very worthy experience, and the medium takes away nothing.
