Hi folks it’s my first post so thanks in advance! I’m having a hard time choosing what to get with my Audible credits. Im looking for something gripping that I’ve never read to totally lose myself in that isn’t on Scribd. These are a few examples of ones I couldn’t stop listening to:
•”Three Body Problem trilogy” – Cixin Liu (these are my favorite books and audiobooks)
•”Hyperion Cantos” – Dan Simmons (felt like I was on an adventure and the voice acting was great)
•”Good Omens” – Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett (there is no form of this book done badly)
•”Library At Mount Char” – Scott Hawkins (one of the most unique books I know of)
•”The Fisherman” – John Langan (incredible storytelling by the author and perfectly narrated)
•”Revival” – Stephen King (one of his best with famous narrator)
•”The Immaculate Void” – Brian Hodge (all around haunting)

I recently got “Perdido Street Station” – China Mieville, but I’m having a hard time getting into it enough to pay attention although I heard the second book “The Scar” is better. Same with “Seveneves” – Neal Stephenson, DNF.

The ones I’m currently considering are:
•”Project Hail Mary” – Andy Weir (looooved “The Martian”)
•”Ambergris” – Jeff Vandermeer (I’m a huge Southern Reach fan)
•”Foundation” – Issac Asimov (just because Im obsessed with the show, but that doesn’t mean I will the audiobooks)
•”Children of Time” – Adrien Tchaikovsky (I don’t know anything about it I just have seen people recommending it everywhere)

Also seen “The Expanse”, “Red Rising”, “Dark Matter” repeatedly mentioned but im not so sure. At any rate I’m just looking for something for right now and not dead set on anything I mentioned. So if you know about something cool, dark, weird, or any subgenre. If you couldn’t get enough of it I wanna know it too. I appreciate and welcome any and all opinions!

    1. Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt and Starve Acre by Andrew Michael Hurley both reminded me a lot of The Fisherman.

The Expanse is fantastic sci fi, and is the only one to ever come close to Three Body Problem for me.

    2. Here are some

The Expance – quick fix, won’t disappoint

Salvation series by Peter F Hamilton – this is just great SciFi, by one of today’s best sci fi writers.

Revelation Space series by Alastair Reynolds – Alastair is like Hamilton’s dark twin – dark space opera.

The first “Children of time” by adrian tchaikovsky is good – but didn’t like 2. and 3. Book.
in the end “Final Architecture” also by adrian tchaikovsky is way better!

Bobiverse by Dennis E. Taylor is your weird/fun scifi universe fix

Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morga. Very violently and very dark

Non of the above will disappoint.

      all the best
