I’ve been invited to a book exchange party this week where we have to put together a gift basket with our favorite book and little snacks and things related to the story. It’s been a fun experience getting it put together! Makes me wonder: what kind of basket would you build?

First which came to mind is putting together a gift basket for **The Secret History** by Donna Tartt. Decedent dark academia and Greccian things – yogurt covered figs, dark chocolate covered blueberries, macarons, currant scones, macadamia nuts, artisan coffee, baklava, maybe a bottle of wine and some candles.

Currently reading (and nearly done with) **Piranesi** by Suzanna Clarke. Nori chips, a journal, green tea, beef jerky, and maybe a little labyrinth steel ball bearing puzzle.

I’d put together a basket with “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen, some tea, and a fancy bookmark!

That sounds like so much fun, I’d love to do this.

I’m not sure what my basket would be yet though, I would have to deliberate over it for several days, get stressed out, then settle on something with only like a day left to do it in. 😂

    4. Oh my goodness this sounds so much fun.

_The Dutch House_ by Ann Patchett with a little decorative house figurine, and some Pennsylvanian staples for snacks (since that’s where the book is set). Maybe some Tastykake, or even just simply Hersheys.

_Panenka_ by Ronan Hession with maybe some soccer ball hair ties, or a soccer ball shaped mug. Maybe some sugar cookies I cut out with a soccer cookie cutter.

_Swing_ by Kwame Alexander with maybe like Jazz-themed socks, or I’ve seen playing cards with big Jazz figures on it.

_Sweet Bean Paste_ by Durian Sukegawa with some Japanese snacks from a J-Mart and maybe some Sakura stationary. Little sticky notes or something. 💕

Ooh what an interesting question, bookmarking this to read everyone’s answers! two recent reads come to mind –

*Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa* – Short, unpretentious and sweet slice-of-life novel full of unanticipated interactions and a little heartbreak. Some tea, maybe hot chocolate for comfort, cookies and a cute little bookmark with Japanese cherry blossoms in the basket or some bookends as a bookstore-themed little present.

*The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu* – First in a trilogy of some of the best sci-fi I’ve ever read. Granted I’m only just coming to the end of book one, I’m already excited about the rest and recommending it to everyone I know😄. I will likely bring some alcoholic beverage of choice – to help with the existential crisis upon reading this. Maybe a paperweight in the shape of a pyramid as a little gift (pyramids are quite central to the first story)

    6. I’ve always wanted to do this and make a basket based on “Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon”. Not my favourite book but it would be fun, although I’d have to check the audience first I expect.
