I recently finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and I loved all the realistic type elements. I really enjoy the “lone man trying to save his planet” troupe, but the part that drew me in most were the practical approaches to questions like how to communicate with an alien when you share no common language or concepts, the “scientific” breakdown of how astrophage actually worked, the element of “oh this could really happen” was great and the approach of everything like some real problem that can’t just be solved because oh it’s the future really drew me in. I’ve been reading other sci fi since (currently loving Leviathans Wake) but nothing scratches quite the same itch. Thoughts?
