I just finished the Three Body Problem and like many, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I felt the overarching story was interesting and the last few chapters are compelling, but on the other hand I felt the structure was strange, the characters are one dimensional and tools for exposition to a hilarious degree, and most of all so many of the characters choices that drive the plot don’t make any sense at all. I honestly can’t believe the book got past the editors to publication.

Some people [like this person](https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/14arh2u/three_body_problem_what_am_i_not_getting/) end up loving the second and third much more than the first, saying many of the problems in the first book are corrected in the second and third, while others say the problems for the first get even worse in the following books.
