I want a book that grabs me from the first page! I’m in a slump for some reason. I dont really care if it is non-fiction or fiction, just want something to get me hooked! I love mysteries, true crime, biographies, sci-fi/time travel and historical fiction.

The books that really got me back into reading last year were Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Hadn’t read in ages, picked them up and read all six in about two months during finals season lol. I also really love V. E. Schwab books (Addie Larue and Gallant specifically. Some of the young adult true crime books are pretty great, One of Us is Lying and Good Girls Guide to Murder come to mind. Good luck!

The Charles Jenkins series by Robert Dugoni are fun reads
Historical fiction: the forgotten room, by Karen white

General fiction but kind of mystery: strange sally diamond, by Liz nugent
Non-fiction: bad blood
Blake Crouch’s sci-fi novels Recursion and his latest, Upgrade.
The Mimicking of Known Successes, by Malka Older.
A cozy sci-fi mystery, sort of a future Holmes and Watson solving a crime on a fog-shrouded alien planet, before returning to their chambers to warm up in front of a fire. Absolutely charming.
And novelette length, so it’s an easy read.
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Sorry if it’s cliché but I don’t feel like I’ve ever read a book that I was as addicted to as I was to this one.
But also The Bell Jar! My favorite.
All the books in the Kingsbridge series.
