I’d suggest one of his short story collections. His first three: *Night Shift*; *Different Seasons;* and *Skeleton Crew* are classics and give you a good variation of all his powers.

Mr. Mercedes series is my favorite by him. Kind of normal and kind of…..not lol
Sleeping Beauties is 2nd.
I’m currently reading The Outsider but that’s best to read after Mr. Mercedes.

Start with a classic: Salems Lot, The Shining or The Stand.

I started with a more recent book: Billy Summers, which I thought was great.

Echoing some others in this thread, I would also recommend starting with a short story collection. My personal favorite is *Nightmares and Dreamscapes*. If you’re more into novels, *The Shining* is a good place to start as it’s not too long. *The Gunslinger* is also a good, quick read but I would hold off on reading other books in the *Dark Tower* series as they get very convoluted and meta and cross over into a lot of King’s other works.

My favorite is 11/22/63 but I enjoyed the Stand, Mr Mercedes, Finders Keepers and Billy Summers as well.

My two favorite King books (besides the Dark Tower series) are Duma Key and Lisey’s Story so, of course I suggest those as a good place to start. But if you want the pants scared off you (you know, the authentic King experience) I would suggest Pet Semetary. That book scared the crap out of me.
