    Hello!

    I made sure to search first but couldn’t find any posts with suggestions I think I could relate to..
    I’m newish to reading. I proclaimed to hate it as a kid and didn’t really read in school, even if it was required. I’m trying my best to get into it and even read books I would’ve read in school.

    I would like some suggestions of some books to read next, that may be in my interests. I also want to read the classics, and well known novels or ones that really make you think or bring you back down to Earth.

    Recently Completed:
    * Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury {3⭐️}
    * The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller {5⭐️}
    * Scythe & Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman {5⭐️/4⭐️}
    * The Obsession by Jesse Q. Sutanto (3⭐️}

    Interests:
    * Fiction
    * Fantasy
    * Science Fiction / Dystopian
    * Mystery
    * Romance / Romantasy

    Some books I did find to read were:
    * Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan {Read the 1st}
    * The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
    * The Catcher in The Rye by J. D. Salinger
    * Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

    If anyone could help guide me into similar books or any others, I’d appreciate any recommendations at all (:

    Thank you!

      How about the Unwind series by Neal Shusterman (the same author as the Scythe books)?

    2. Stone Blind and Divine Might, both by Natalie Haynes

      The Hunger Games trilogy and the recently published prequel are pretty good dystopian reads

      As for true classics, The Count of Monte Christo is a great one

    3. If you want some fun introductory Sci-fi, I have two recommendations that I give everyone.

      A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

      A thoughtful and beautiful story of growth and friendship between a tea monk and a robot in a future civilization. This book is healing as hell and it’s a novella so it’s a super easy read. Honestly all of Becky Chambers’ books are good for getting into sci-fi. Dedication is “For anyone who could use a break”

      Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi

      This book is hilarious, action-packed, and generally SO much fun. Scalzi is really good at developing worlds quickly and explaining the science behind the sci-fi in an engaging way.

      For some slightly tougher reads try Red Rising by Pierce Brown and Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. Both are considered must-reads in dystopian and fantasy respectively.

      I work in a library and read like crazy so if you have any questions or specific types of books you want more of just let me know. Happy reading!

      What you might have read in school:

      1984

      Brave New World

      Things Fall Apart

      The Fifth Child

      A bit of a mouthful but Clytemnestra by Constanza Casati is a good read especially if you enjoyed Madeline Miller

    6. We have the same general interests!! I’m almost finished with my first Harry Potter read
      -through.
      Just read Fourth Wing (Rebecca Yarros), starting Iron Flame shortly.
      Loved Sharp Objects (Gillian Flynn), and will soon be reading more of hers – Dark Places, Gone Girl.
      The Chain (Adrian McKinty) was an easy horror/mystery read.
      Love all Hunger Games novels, just read Ballad (Suzanne Collins).
      The Final Girl Support Group (Grady Hendrix) was fun, another horror/mystery.
      Verity (Colleen Hoover) is a romance/thriller – I don’t read her books but that one was recommended to me and I enjoyed.
      Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (Taylor Jenkins Reid) is a romance/fiction that I read in one night, I could not put it down and I cried my way through the last few chapters.

      Let me know if you want any others! I am also very into Star Wars novels per my scifi interest if you want recs for those!

      Edit: ugh sorry for format. On mobile
