I’ve been trying really hard to write horror and psychological thrillers about cults, but I’ve been having difficulty doing so.
This isn’t a brag, but I feel like it’s hard for me to get scared. Startled by a jump scare or loud noises? Sure although it’s a bit cheap imo. I guess that what appeals me to the psychological aspect. It’s why I think Rosemary’s baby is a masterpiece.
Not trying to ramble but just expressing my thought process. It feels like in a visual medium, you can easily immerse yourself. Are there any books you can recommend that give you that same sense of dread and paranoia? Hopefully this isn’t overly specific.
