I found this book in my teachers little classroom library when i was in 5th grade (about 6 years ago) and i know so many details, i just cannot find the title anywhere. i remember the book was about a little girl and her older brother, and they were walking across the road when they got hit by a semi truck. it was later revealed that the truck had break failure and i think it was honking at the kids, but they didn’t react fast enough. the driver also sent the family a card because of how sorry he felt. the little girl ended up dying and the boy almost died, but was brought back to life. he had said that he saw the light, as in heaven, but then was told it was not his time yet, as he was brought back into his own body. after he was released from the hospital, i remember his family, and especially his mother shutting down completely. and i also know that there was something important about the girls bedroom after she died. maybe it was something like the father wanted to clean it out or something but the mother couldn’t even think about it without breaking down? but i also remember the brother going into the forest behind or close to their house and releasing balloons into the sky, and i think he was there with someone else too, maybe his friend, and there also might have been a telephone involved. that is all i remember about the story itself, but i think on the cover there was a picture of a little girl with angel wings walking with her back turned, in a wooded area. this book made me bawl my eyes out, but i really want to find it again!
