I’m in a bit of a reading slump, and trying to get back in through my favorite genre. Although I’ve definitely enjoyed quite a lot of historical fiction books set in the US and Europe (James McBride, Louis Erdrich, and Carlos Ruiz Zafron’s works in particular come to mind), my preference is my works set elsewhere (like *Pachinko*, Lista See’s *The Island of Sea Women*, and Amitov Ghosh’s *Ibis* trilogy are favorites of mine). Shogun is already on the to-read list – or to be more accurate, the try-again list as I couldn’t get into it when I first gave ita. go a few years ago.
Thanks so much in advance for anyone who has any suggestions!
