I searched for previous questions like this and most of the responses were pretty old, so figured I would ask.
I read Larry Niven’s Lucifer’s Hammer a few years ago and really enjoyed the rest half of the book. However the second half just got weird with the racism and politics and whatnot.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a similar book with a heavy focus on the imminent apocalypse. I loved all the build up to the apocalypse… the sense of impending doom is a lot of fun.
Another one along the same lines that I enjoyed was Wherever Seeds May Fall from Peter Cawdron’s First Contact series.

Dies the Fire by S. M. Stirling.
The Last Policeman is about an impending apocalypse where an asteroid is going to wipe out the planet in six months. Most people have just given up everything but one cop is determined to solve a murder. There are two sequels I haven’t read.
